Insta360’s upcoming ultra-compact action camera is set to undergo a major redesign. According to leaked images and specs, the new version is expected to be named Insta360 Go Ultra, breaking from the company’s previous naming convention of Go 4. This latest model will feature a fresh square design, replacing the pill-shaped form factor seen in previous iterations, offering a more compact and user-friendly experience.
The Insta360 Go Ultra measures just over an inch on each side (30mm), making it incredibly small and portable. At 53 grams, it is notably heavier than the Go 3’s 35.5 grams and Go 2’s 26.5 grams, but this increase in weight comes with significant upgrades.
The Go Ultra will be equipped with a new 1/1.28-inch sensor and will support 4K video recording at up to 60fps, doubling the frame rate of the Go 3S, which launched last year. This translates to sharper, smoother footage and an overall enhanced video recording experience.
In addition to improved video capabilities, the Go Ultra will also come with advanced features like image stabilization and a horizon lock function, ensuring stable and smooth footage even in action-packed scenarios.
The new Active HDR mode will allow for more vibrant, detailed footage when recording at 4K/30fps, making it particularly useful for situations with varying lighting conditions. These enhancements make the Go Ultra not just perfect for extreme sports enthusiasts, but also for everyday users who demand crisp, high-quality video content.
The upgrades don’t stop with the camera itself. The Insta360 Go Ultra will also feature a redesigned Action Pod dock, which serves multiple purposes. This new dock will act as a wireless remote control and come with a flip-up screen, allowing users to preview their shots in real-time. Additionally, it will boost the camera’s battery life, though exact details about its runtime are still unknown.
While Insta360 has not officially announced the Go Ultra’s release date, previous models in the Go series typically launch around June or earlier, so it is likely that the new version will follow a similar timeline. Leaked information suggests that the Go Ultra will build upon the legacy of the Go series, offering cutting-edge hardware and a more convenient design.
For those who value portability without compromising on performance, the Insta360 Go Ultra promises to be a game-changer. With its powerful specs and innovative features, it’s shaping up to be a must-have tool for adventure seekers, content creators, and anyone in need of a small yet capable action camera.
